The Friends of Lancastrian Infant School
We help provide all those little extras that enhance the children`s lives in school.
We raise money for things like school equipment, climbing frame, benches, plus many smaller things chosen by either the children or their class teacher.
We subsidise many school trips as well as the visitors that come to the school.
Who are The Friends?
All parents automatically become members of The Friends’ Association when their child joins the school. The Friends are successful at organising social and fund raising events that provide money for much needed facilities and resources for the children.
Most activities are designed to be family events but we are looking at some specifically for parent audience e.g. Bingo night, quiz night, film night and much more.
The committee comprises:
A chairperson, responsible for setting the monthly agendas and keeping meetings on track
as well as being the first point of contact with the school and many parents.
The treasurer, who keeps a record of both income and expenditure, and deals with the banking.
The secretary, who documents what was discussed and decisions made at each of the meetings we hold during school term times.
In addition there are a number of committee members, who take on many tasks, generating ideas for new events, and decide how the money is to be spent.
Behind all of this is you, ‘a friend’, ‘a parent’. You can help in a variety of ways; helping to run a stall at an event, providing a raffle prize or just by simply coming along to an event to have a good time.
How can you get involved?
Come along to our next meeting; we will put the upcoming date on posters around the school and on the News & Events page on the website. It is a chance to meet other parents, discuss ideas or just see what goes on behind the scenes. There is no great time commitment. The more people are involved, the less there is for each individual to do.
