Welcome to Fox Class
It was fantastic to have the children return from lockdown for the end of last half term. It was really clear to see how much progress the children had made during that difficult period.
This half term we will be focusing on the local area of Chichester. We will concentrate on where Chichester is in the country as well as learning how to read different maps of Chichester. We will also look at the history of the cities key features such as the cathedral, cross and Lancastrian itself.
PE: Thursday are our designated days for PE, which means your child can arrive and be in their PE kits for the whole day.
For the first 4 Wednesdays of the summer term we will have Forest School where children can arrive to school in their own clothes but please be aware that these clothes might get wet and muddy so please don't bring in their best or newest clothes.
Reading: Book bags containing reading books will be sent home each day, and changed once a week. Please support your child as much as possible with their reading at home. Please record when and what books you have read together in their reading records along with any comments on their reading. This will have the biggest impact on your child’s learning. We will also be reading at school so remember to send their books and reading records back in each day.
- Can you make sure your child brings in a water bottle for the day and as per school rules make sure that it is only water in the bottle and not juice.
- Can you make sure that your child’s name is in their jumpers so they don’t get mixed up or lost.
- Children can bring in fruit for a healthy snack at break time.
- We are always looking for parent helpers for any trips (when we are able to go on any) this year. Please let me know if you are interested or willing to help out.

Thank you for all of your donations on number day and supporting the NSPCC. Everyone's number dress up was fantastic and we loved hunting for numbers to help solve our number puzzles.
All the children enjoyed our trip out to the local area to visit Chichester cathedral. As you can tell from our hair we didn't let the wind stop us!

Forest School Week 2
Forest School Week 3
In the last week before Easter it was National Science Day. We all came in dressed as different colours and we did lots of colourful science experiments all day to celebrate!
During the spring term we celebrated World Book day and we even challenged to try our hand at Extreme Reading by Mrs Turner.
We have loved learning about different animals especially where they live. We enjoyed working as a team to make our own habitats.
In Maths so far we have been focusing on place value and sequencing of numbers within 20. We have also looked at comparing two groups and being able to use greater than and less than symbols to describe which group is bigger.
In our Topic lessons we have looked at the four seasons. We have particularly focused on Autumn where we have done our own leaf drawing as well as looking at the different types of weather. We even made our own Rain Gauge and Weather Vane to measure the rain and wind.
We have moved on to exploring different materials and their properties.
In Fox class we celebrated Diwali by making our own Diva lights and Rangoli rice patterns.
As Diwali is the festival of light we also celebrate with some Marshmallows around the fire. We also created our very own firework paintings in the style of Jackson Pollock.
In Maths this term we have been learning about different 2D and 3D shapes. We have look at the names of both 2D and 3D shapes as well as their properties. We also used different shapes to make our own pictures.
We have celebrated Christmas by learning about a Christingle as well as going to St Paul's Church for a Christingle Service. Once back at school we had our very own Christmas Party with lots of dancing and pin the tail on the Fox. We were even lucky enough to have a visit from Father Christmas himself.
