Forest School

At Lancastrian we really value Outdoor Learning and know that many children learn best when they are outside exploring and investigating. We have a trained Forest School practitioner on site who plans activities for our site that encourage the children to think about the environment. They also link to our topics and develop thinking skills.
What is Forest School?

A Forest School has a holistic child centred approach that takes place in woodland area and uses a range of child led processes to promote confidence, resilience, independence and creative thinking. Learners are supported to take appropriate risks through a number of outdoor activities including fire lighting, wood craft with tools, den building, tree climbing, game playing, and storytelling. Children build a relationship with the natural world and are guided through regular sessions led by qualified Forest school leaders who assess, plan and observe sessions to promote each child’s self -development.
