English at Lancastrian
The English curriculum incorporates Writing and Reading as well as the key skills of Speaking and Listening. At Lancastrian we base our English learning around exciting motivating topics and high quality core texts. We follow the national curriculum objectives in Years 1 and 2 and the Early Years Foundation Stage in Early Years. (see links). In reading we follow a colour coded scheme which allows for children to progress at their own rate as well as to have some choice in their reading. In order for children to develop the vital reading skills they need to read every day and we ask parents to make sure that they listen to their children each day and record this in their reading record.
Book Week 2019
This year we have been focusing on stories by Oliver Jeffers. We have enjoyed The Day the Crayons Quit in KS1 and Lost and Found in Early Years. We have taken part in lots of book related activities and really enjoyed immersing ourselves in text.
