Squirrels

Welcome to Squirrel Class!

Please remember to label everything your child brings to school with their name. They will need their book bag and water bottle  (for the classroom) EVERY day.

Our Summer 2 topic is On the Farm
Have a look at our topic web to find out more!
Forest School

We have been learning new skills at Forest School such as building a fire and whittling wood. We are very enthusiastic to work on new challenges!

Our Spring Outdoor Learning Day
We have been learning about 'Growing and Keeping Healthy,' so for our Outdoor Learning Day we went to exercise in the park, followed by a healthy snack at the Cafe.
Let's Celebrate World Book Day
Thursday 1st March

This term we will be focussing on the topic ‘Growing and Keeping Healthy’ and one of the books we will use to support this learning is ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ written by Eric Carle, first published in 1969!  It features a caterpillar who eats its way through a wide variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a butterfly.

For World Book Day we would love the children to come dressed as a character or piece of food from this book. We hope to see caterpillars, butterflies and other bugs such as spiders, ladybirds etc.as well as children dressed as items of food such as lollipops or apples. Check the book out and let your imaginations run wild!

Since Christmas much of our work has been based around
traditional tales and in particular Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.
The Reception children really enjoyed joining the other classes in  performing 'The Little Drummer Boy.' We were very proud of them; they really were Stars!
Our P.E. Sessions
Outdoor Learning Day
We explored our local environment and looked for signs of Autumn. We then tried leaf printing and 'land art' using natural objects, in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.
Our Outdoor Learning Day included a Bear Hunt!
Our Star of the Day Pictures
Eid
We had a small party for two of our class today,
as they were celebrating Eid.
We wish them and their families a very special day.
 Ambulance Visit
Karate
We have now started Karate classes with black belt, Matt. We have been learning how to do upper and lower blocks.
Fire Station Visit

We visited the local Fire Station to look at their fire engines and find out how they are equipped to deal with fires or other incidents. We also found out about the protective gear the fire fighters  wear to stay safe.
Listening to the Keyboard

Amelia's Mum, Agnieszka came and played the keyboard for us to listen to. We talked about having a 'growth mindset', even as an adult and how important it is to learn new things and work hard. Agnieszka played beautifully and has only been learning for a short time. Thank you Agnieszka!
